About this resource
RMCDC administers funds for up to 28 families to purchase their own respite care.
Who can refer to the Direct-Funding Respite Program?
Referrals for this program come from the Child & Youth with Support Needs program through the Ministry for Children and Family Development (MCFD). Eligibility is determined by MCFD and funds are provided by the government. Families who meet requirements are eligible to receive Respite Program services until their child reaches the age of seven. For information on the referral process, please contact your MCFD Social Worker.
What happens once a referral is made?
Referrals are sent to RMCDC by the Ministry for Children and Family Development. RMCDC will then contact the family to review program information and to complete necessary documentation.
How are Respite services provided?
Respite services are delivered in the form of a monthly cheque which will be mailed to the family at the beginning of each month.
