Program at the SCAN Clinic (Referral Required)
The SCAN clinic works in collaboration with law enforcement, Child Protection, health and the Child and Youth Advocacy Centres to provide child maltreatment medical assessment and formal medical legal reports. The SCAN team is available to provide consultation support and education to community partners across the Interior Health region. The SCAN clinic is operated by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals with experience and expertise in the area of child maltreatment. The team aims to provide child- centred care through a trauma- informed approach and a focus on least intrusive, most effective intervention

Referral criteria:
Any child under the age of 19 years where there is a disclosure or suspicion of child maltreatment (sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse and neglect).
The SCAN Clinic is a consent based service and referrals should only be completed if the child’s legal guardian is aware and consenting.
Referrals can be sent directly to the clinic via email or fax. Referral forms can be provided by request from one of the listed community partners.
