Island Métis Childcare Centre
In partnership with Métis Nation British Columbia, Island Métis Child Care is an Aboriginal Head Start program supported by funding from the Aboriginal Head Start Association of British Columbia.
Our childcare centre is a safe, nurturing and culturally enriched space where every child is cared for, encouraged and supported to promote curiosity and lifelong learning.
We follow the Six Components of Aboriginal Head Start: Culture, Language, Education and School Readiness, Health Promotion Nutrition, Parent and Family Evolvement.
Infant & Toddler (0 - 2 years):
Our under three program is licensed to provide care and education for eight infants and toddlers, 6 months to 3 years. Our Early Childhood Educators have an Infant/Toddler specialization and provide opportunities to explore the Six Components of Aboriginal Head Start through their monthly programing.
3 - 5 year old:
The preschool environment is designed to offer engaging and diverse activities that will provide children with a variety of learning experiences in a creative atmosphere. All activities in our Preschool Programs are created to develop fine motor skills, oral expression, problem solving qualities, self-esteem and responsibility, social-emotional interactions and physical movement within a culturally specific program.
We currently have spots available in our facility.
