Adapted sit skiing is part of the adapted special-needs program opportunities
The Vancouver Park Board offers many adapted and integrated recreational activities for children, youth, adults, and seniors with disabilities.
Ask about equipment including:
-Aquatic lifts, water wheelchairs, and beach entries at pools
-Ice sleds at rinks
-Water wheelchairs and Mobi-Mats at selected beaches
Contact Access Services for details.
Support person:
Free admission is provided to the support person accompanying a person with a disability who requires assistance when participating in Park Board activities.
Support is defined as assistance of a physical, psychological, emotional, intellectual, or sensory nature, which is necessary to ensure that the person with a disability is able to participate.
Support persons may accompany someone that requires assistance, but may or may not physically attend to or assist the person with a disability. The person may just require a support person to be present in order to participate in a program, or model an activity.
The participant may be required to pay the relevant admission fee.
