Housing
Affordable and safe housing is important to the well-being and health of individuals, families and seniors. Housing is even more vital for clients who have disability challenges, such as an acquired brain injury. Of particular concern are those individuals who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. It is generally recognized that a majority of homeless people may have an acquired brain injury (ABI) in addition to other health issues, such as substance addiction and mental health.

We provide our services to any Canadian citizen residing in the South Okanagan.

Common Ground Apartments - SOSBIS offers affordable housing options for our clients. Tenants pay a low or subsidized rent depending on location. On-site support programs are available from our staff.

Rental Subsidies - SOSBIS has a limited number of rental subsidies to assist our clients to work through unexpected financial difficulties. The terms of the subsidy will be tailored to the specific needs of the individual as determined through consultation with their SOSBIS Case Manager.

Homeless Outreach Program - This program offers assistance to people who are at risk or who have become homeless. This program allows SOSBIS to connect with people who have been underserved leading to homelessness. They may have experienced a concussion or a more severe brain injury.

Mental Health Housing Program - This program is available through contract referral from the Mental Health and Substance Use program at Interior Health. The goals of the program are to assist people with a chronic and persistent mental health disability to have access to help finding and keeping long term housing that best suits their own housing needs.
