1:1 Therapeutic Recreation
Recreation can promote inclusion and encourage better social relationships while focusing on personal independence, community participation, life enrichment and social skills for children, youth and adults with disabilities or mental health. When barriers exist, recreation can help identify and remove these barriers through meaningful engagement and strategies for the individual and empower caregivers with multiple tools for sustainable support.
Children and Youth:
Play is one of a young child's most powerful learning tools. Play-based learning environments are critical in order to encourage a sense of self, worth and contribution. This can lead to positive interactions with others, self regulation tools, coping strategies and newly explored recreational opportunities.
Young Adults:
As our children grow into young adults, we want to encourage them to explore various new interests and opportunities which include social connections, community participation and employment. Barriers can often be present, which leads to the lack of accessibility and opportunity to choose independently how to get involved socially, physically, mentally and emotionally.
Mental Health:
For individuals with mental illness, recreation can reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Engaging in meaningful activity is critical for sense of role, worth and purpose. Our team can help identify and remove barriers that might otherwise exist, so that an individual can contribute to their own positive and active lives.
Adults and Older Adults:
It's imperative for everyone to maintain a sense of self, worth, role and purpose. Those living with dementia experience deterioration in memory, thinking and behaviour which can contribute to a loss or lack of engagement, participation and independence in everyday life.
Community Living:
Long Term Care, Retirement or Assisted Living
Individualized recreation and engagement can contribute positively to the mental, physical, social and emotional wellness of individuals. We are excited to share that as advocates of accessibility, inclusion and participation, there will be NO CHARGE for our initial discovery of needs ($150 value), which means only our hourly rate will apply for 1:1 services.
This applies to those living in long term care, retirement or assisted living facilities. We will work together with the team of care to obtain the information we need to create the same individualized program plan for consequent sessions.
Our individualized services can be implemented as few as 1X week for 1.5 hour sessions or more depending on the support the individual requires (or at the families request).
