Neurofeedback- Stepping Stones Counselling
Neurofeedback is a form of neuro-therapy for all ages that directly trains brain functions to help correct unbalanced brain wave patterns. Neurofeedback is able to assess the functioning of the brain and where it is not optimally functioning. It looks for the cause, such as what specific pathways are dysregulated or over/under activated. This process begins with a QEEG (quantitative EEG) brain scan, which shows the clinician how an individual's brain behaves and allows them to design a personalized training schedule. This training schedule promotes balanced, regulated brain waves to promote positive changes in a clients life.

This individualized training plan sets targets and provides you with feedback, such as music, videos or games, that start/stop or change depending on if your brain is working towards its target goal. Over time, as the brain is conditioned or trained into new, healthier brain wave patterns, your behaviours improve.

Benefits of Neurofeedback:
-An increase in emotional regulation
-Decrease in anxiety and depressive symptoms
-Gain greater control of impulsive behaviours and racing thoughts
-Decrease in oppositional behaviours
-Improve attention, focus, memory, and creativity
-Improve sleep and appetite
-Decrease symptoms of chronic pain and fatigue
