About this resource

This program offers individual and group counselling services for children and youth, 3 - 19 years old, who have witnessed abuse or violence. This program was developed originally to help break the intergenerational cycle of violence, usually against women.

Our Counsellor helps children and youth cope with, and heal from, the trauma of witnessing abuse, including living in an abusive situation. They are assisted in developing an understanding of the dynamics of abuse and violence, their own feelings, and building their sense of personal worth and safety.

Support can also be provided to the parent (usually the mother) who has been abused by her partner.
