Special Olympics BC Nelson

About this resource

Special Olympics BC provides high-quality sports programs and competitions that help people with intellectual disabilities celebrate personal achievement and gain confidence, skills and friendships.

Special Olympics BC – Nelson consists of an ever-growing group of dedicated volunteers and athletes who live in Nelson surrounding area. We are one of the longest-running SOBC Locals in the Kootenays, and we currently offer 5-pin bowling, swimming, snowshoeing, bocce, and floor hockey. Nelson also has Alpine skiing which is open to all athletes.

We are working on building both the Active Start and FUNdamentals programs for our Nelson youth with intellectual disabilities. These programs are for athletes ages 2 to 11. Currently we are welcoming both athletes and youth leaders for these programs.
