Library Accessible Services
Accessible Services provides services to library users with mobility challenges and/or print disabilities who live in the City of Vancouver. Live-in primary caregivers for homebound individuals may also be eligible. Qualifying patrons will be signed up for a special type of Vancouver Public Library card, known as an ‘Accessible Services’ card.

We define a mobility challenge as an illness, injury or disability that prevents a person from visiting the library, carrying library materials or from leaving their home for a period of three months or longer.

A print disability is one that prevents or inhibits a person from reading conventional print. It can be the result of:

a learning disability, such as a perceptual impairment
a physical disability, such as the inability to hold or manipulate a book
a visual disability, such as an impairment of sight or the inability to focus or move one’s eyes
More detailed information on all our services can be found below. You can also call 604.331.4100 or e-mail accessible@vpl.ca and we would be happy to answer your questions.

Note: Our Accessible Services space is located on Level 3 of the main Central Library.
