Children's Respite
The Children’s Respite Program at CVS is designed to support families who have a child with a disability. Respite is a family-to-family program where the child typically goes into the home of the caregiver to provide the family with a break from continuous care of their child. Respite visits generally happen over a weekend or on an overnight basis. However, a more flexible schedule can be designed to meet the needs of the family. Families interested in receiving respite should speak to their social worker for service inquiry. Referrals to this program are through Children & Youth with Special Needs (CYSN) social workers.
Families without a social worker can contact the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD) to request an intake worker for their child. This service is available for children between the ages of 3-18. There is a yearly review for each family receiving service.
