Respite for Children and Youth
Respite care can be provided in two different ways: at the home of the child/youth, or at the home of the respite caregiver. Respite offers the child or youth a safe place to stay while providing temporary relief to families and care providers.

Respite can be provided during weekends, holidays, or other time periods and can provide emergency relief care to a family in times of crisis. Respite care can also serve as an alternative living arrangement in the event that a child needs to relocate and is between homes.

Strive carefully and thoroughly screens respite caregivers before approving them to work with the child or youth. Referrals from MCFD are required to become part of Strive's Children and Youth Services Program. This program services the Lower Mainland and Powell River.
