Foster Parent Support and Training Program
The Foster Parent Support and Training Program consists of two parts; firstly, to provide a direct support network to Foster Parents, and secondly, to offer the education they require to find success in the role.
By providing a community to Foster Parents and a place to receive relevant and ongoing training, the FPSP helps to maintain the stability of children and youth in care. Children in care range in age from birth to eighteen years and come from various backgrounds and experiences. The FPSP can assist in communicating with the MCFD, provide links to services and resources that may be required, and offer support during placements.
Being part of a Foster Parent community provides excellent peer support in order to encourage and learn from one another. Many different group types are offered that vary in size from small to large and based on different interests, needs, preferences, and schedules. The FPSP is trained to support Foster Parents in a variety of situations and offers additional telephone assistance to address any questions or concerns that may arise.
