Pregnancy Outreach Program
Pregnancy Outreach Program: Provides support, information and services to help women have healthy pregnancies. Our staff assist with strategies to promote nutritional health, early access to prenatal care, counselling and information regarding issues that affect prenatal health.

We provide support, information and services to assist women in having as healthy pregnancy as possible. Goals are to assist with strategies to promote nutrition and health, early access to prenatal care, counseling and information regarding issues that affect prenatal health and the care of infants.

We are a voluntary program for women who are pregnant and/or after they have their babies (up to 6 months post-partum). By joining our program, moms often learn about pregnancy and babies, but it is also an opportunity for them to socialize, have fun and meet other women and families.

We offer many different services and moms are encouraged to use them in the way that suits them. We are non-judgmental and support women to have as healthy pregnancy as possible.

Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Pregnancy Outreach Program is free and confidential.

Our staff is made up of a Coordinator and Outreach Workers. Together, we have many years of experience in working with women through perinatal period.

Some common topics we may cover with our moms include:

Changes expected during pregnancy
Getting ready for baby's arrival
Healthy eating for the mom and the baby
Smoking
Alcohol or drug use
Breastfeeding
Bonding with baby
Parenting
Relationships
Infant safety
Accessing other programs or agencies
Any other concerns a mom may have
We also provide vitamins, food coupons, donated maternity and baby clothing to those in need.

Our program was created as a part of the Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP). We are also funded by the Northern Health Authority and the Quesnel & District Child Development Centre.
