Aboriginal Skills Employment and Training Strategy (ASETS)
Aboriginal Skills Employment & Training Strategy (ASETS) provides training and employment opportunities to Aboriginal people within the Central Interior of British Columbia.
The objective of the ASETS agreement is to:
-Increase Aboriginal participation in the Canadian Labour Market.
-Strengthen and facilitate flexible programming that meets the unique and varied needs of Aboriginal people and employers.
-Provide employers with skilled workers.
The Central Interior ASETS service area includes Merritt, Lytton, Ashcroft, Chase, Lillooet, Enderby, Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Barriere to Clinton. It currently serves 30 First Nations within the St'at'imc, Nlaka'pamux, Syilx and Secwepemc Nations. This region also includes 3 Friendship Centres in Merritt, Kamloops and Lillooet.
