The Jo Dickey Foundation Grants
The Jo Dickey Foundation has been established to assist members of the British Columbia community that have mental and/or physical challenges by providing funding for items, services or events to improve their quality of life, to those that cannot afford these things.
Normally the applicant will make a request for a funding grant, but we are happy to accept applications on behalf of individuals. We also accept applications on behalf of a group of individuals; however we do not provide funding for organizations. We normally do not provide funding to reimburse an applicant for items purchased or services obtained if those items or services are purchased prior to the grant application being approved.
Criteria
1. The Applicant must be an adult.
2. The Applicant has a recognized mental and/or physical challenge.
3. The Applicant cannot afford the item/service/event.
4. The Applicant has made some effort to raise funds through other sources (or an explanation is given why this is not possible).
5. Particulars of the item/service/event must be included.
6. Quotations of costs must be provided.
7. All grant requests must be accompanied by the applicant's most recent Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency.
Grant requests are normally dealt with at the following bi-monthly meeting of the Foundation’s Directors, so if there is an urgency to the funding request, this should be noted on the application.
Note that if the grant request has been approved and if funds are provided directly to the applicant, we will require the provision of receipts to prove the expenditure.
